videoblog001 - cage leaks, movie news, random rants, woo!

cage - 3 leaked tracks

cage is a member of the defjux crew and also cardboard city, if you dont know that that means its pretty much means he is a big deal in nyc and in the world of underground hiphop. his previous album "hells winter" is a journey through stories and thought. if you like aesop rock, youll like cage. so says i and it must be true.

hangover the movie

zack g is taking his second try at acting as a main role and i cant fucking wait. his first movie i have  still yet to see but his standup is some of my favorite. enjoy the trailer and check out some of his standup.

where the wild things are

incase you were not born on this planet, where the wild things are is one of the most loved childrens books ever. i know it was one of mine. back when the grinch stole christmas was in theatures there was a teaser for this move coming up but then the director bailed and the project was dropped as was my hope. a year or so later it starts back up under new direction and i must say this looks like it might be my favorite childrens book turned movie ever.

as far as me, im doing my best. had a rough night but i start work at wink news tomorrow and i could not be more excited. hope you enjoyed the video update and look forward to better ones in the future. production on my first film should be in the next few weeks so stay tuned on more info on that. oh and stop fucking talking about startrek like you are a fan, i watched every episode of deep space nine, voyager, and then some so stop deciding you are now a trekkie cuz you saw one fucking film... christ. i love my nintendo dsi, that is all.

i dont think i have ever introduced myself..

hi there im a clean addict, lover, friend, musician, artist, mac user, kite flyer, record listener, social network obsessor, wes anderson loving, godfree, night walking, ps3 playing, jerk. whose best friend is half way across the world. i am nathan k acevedo and its nice to meet you. on april 25 i overdosed and since have been clean with the exception of cigarettes and this one night i thought it might be funny to drink alone, it wasnt. but all in all im just a guy who probably tries to hard to get people to accept him and never really feels accepted in a crowd of people. with my fits of rage, moments of being disntant, and everything thats in between im lucky to have anyone i can call a friend. ive been a best friend, a lover, a boyfriend, a best man, a manager, and a dissapointment to most who have known me. now is the part where i tell you that im trying to change and you really believe me. you think to yourself, damn that nathan kid has really got his head on straight and i believe he is going to be ok one day. and to that id say, i sure fucking hope so too. not much of a music post but ive been listeing to alot of riceboy sleeps this morning, its a colab between the singer of sigur ros jonsi and his boyfriend alex. its mellow and thats the mood i am in so it fits.

more words, more music, less video, more heart.

im sorry but there has something that has been on my mind for hours and i have to make it heard. I find it funny how bands that used to be so good can get so fucking bad.

**insert band name here**

you know it, i know it. fuck its a sad thing when bands break up but at least that means they cant come out with a shit record after they have peaked. if ampere decided to come out with a pop album and go against everything they stood for tomorrow would anyone notice or would we all look the other way and just say they had a differ of musical opinion and accept it. no. fuck no. although the thought of ampere doing the pop music thing might be amazing still you get the idea. there are these bands stand for something that when we grow up listening to and we worship, we plan on getting them tattooed on our body, we know every fucking song by heart and when we are too young to go to the shows every time they come to our state a little part of us dies inside. then we grow up or the bands break up or they change their style. lets take daughers, their previous project as the suns sets was one of my favorites and the daughts self titled 7inch remains to be one of my favorite musical releases to date (althought i now regret giving it to a so called friend, neither here nor there) but after releasing a badass demo and an even more killer full length the "decide that screaming is too popular and they wanna sing in drawn out rumbles like an old man calling bingo numbers whos had too many bloody marries. i mean WHAT?! screaming is now too popular so we wont do it anymore? fuck that. when i first got into music i had no idea what i was getting myself into, my first real show was jiyuna, the anchorite four, the holy mountain, and horse the band, it blew my fucking mind. i had no idea, and there was no turning back. when i joined blue skies over headlights the then later we'll dance like ghosts on rooftops and i would see kids come to shows just to see us or even bands start because of us i did not once think, "hey fuck we are getting trendy lets fucking bail" we screamed till we couldnt breath and then some, we were boys, we were growing up and learning love the hard fucking way and we wanted everyone within ears reach to fucking hear it. it didnt matter how many myspace hits we got, or if we got on a fucking label or anything, we did it because we fucking loved it and it died because we grew up, not because it became twisted into something mangled no longer representing its original form like i see so many times these days. i honestly feel bad for those old dudes who got metallica tattoos back in the day and were like "METAL FOREVER" or better yeah the dudes with the blink182 tattoos that now see the gods they once worshiped apart of something they would never have imagined. what am i saying? what’s the fucking point to all of this? good music should either burn out or explode, never change its values for popularity, and never under any circumstance change for anything other than that they fucking want to. maybe that makes me a fool, maybe not. but if you listen to old daughers then pop in their most recent release you will see what im saying. same with the locust, the number12, and countless other bands. change can be good, fuck i loved it when thee oh sees changed from john dwyers solo weird lofi shit to a full band but that doesn’t mean every time a fucking band changes its good. i just miss when music meant something more to me, when a song could make me cry, and when i could play a song that made others cry. music is everything people, so stop fucking it up.

maybe this is me just being upset about life or maybe im just looking back at how things used to be, where the shows were about fucking music and emotions and fellowship. not getting wasted and being more punk rock than the others. i hate it when i see something that was once so beautiful twisted, as far as my own towns concerned. people i once called "friend" who cant look me in the eye, its my fault, i am apart to blame for this machine that is runing downhill. i will be the first to admit ive made my share of mistakes and ive done my wrong, but fuck there needs to be a change. fuck elitism, live your life to the fullest, and play music with everythig you fucking have inside you, who cares if its in tune, if anyone is watching, or if you ever get anywhere. my name is nathan acevedo and i am a recovering heroin addict.

here is a few bands ive been listening to recently while not playing pokemon or jailbreaking my iphone and trying my best not to make it explode.

Parabstruse - Back and Forth EP

this one man band does some of the most amazing instermental music around, he releases all his stuff for free via his myspace so look him up, you might also enjoy some of his other side projects that are pretty insane.

clues - selftitled

one half the unicorns, on ex the arcade fire. need i fucking say more. amazing.

mum - finally we are no one

this is one of those cds that i have just enjoyed for years. something that i have no matter what kept it in my ipod at all times regardless of needing to clean out old albums. mum is minamalistic icelandic (sp?) glory with a female vocalst that sounds like an old woman mixed with a young girl, cant get much better than that id say.

barkbarkbark - noose and a fire ep

this was when one of my all time favorite bands decided to break up and become a solo project, one of his first releases jaccob cooper released under his new adopted name was the noose and a fire ep, it wasnt much in comparassion to the old stuff but you see what he was going for. ironically enough i was going to get a barkbarkbark tattoo right before they decided to change musical sounds and directions, ironic to this post no?

Avey Tare & Kría Brekkan - Pullhair Rubeye (Forward)

frontman of the much beloved by me animal collective and his wife the singer for mum decided to do a musical colab and release the entire album in reverse, this is a fan verson where they switched it and made it play forward which i enjoy alot more. i love this release alot.

daughers - selftitled 7"

just so you can understand the power this band once had and how they could thow it all away because of a fear of being seen as "too trendy" fuck egos.

park ranger barkwood - we are not brothers

two nice dudes from orlando that i recently saw at house of cats playing 90s style emo/screamo stuff but with a twist. sloppy but powerful and gets the point across, great live!

mount eerir - white stag

i am going to have to go against almost all my friends in saying this but before seeing him live i was not a fan of Phil Elverum or his previous band the microphones. but once i saw him live it all made sence to me. this is his newest release and i cant get enough of it.

i hope you enjoyed a few of the cds i shared, no covers anymore because im lazy but i hope to get the whole video thing up and working. also if you would like a copy of my script that me and my friends will be filming that i wrote and will direct shoot me an email. thanks <3!

a new start!

after a recent near death expirence i have decided to change alot of things in my life, this being one of them.  while i have slacking as far as music updates go i have decided to take a new route for this form self expression. instead of the daily (or weekly, or whatrever) music posts i make with a single albulm and a review followed by a download lnk, i will be making a weekly video post with what going on in my life. current events, movies, and ofcourse musis. instead of a single album each day i will post about an artist or multiple artists and put up their entire discography or atleast as many cd by them as i can find, also movie trailer for movies i am excited about or torrent links to movies i already love and enjoy. this will less of a free music download blog and more pf a personal/freemusic/freemovie/upcomingmovies/whateverthefuckiwant blog. i think it will be a good idea and something i hope alot of people i will get more from. i plan on updating from different locations from time to time and maybe even have a guest along with me now anf again. but to hold you over till i get these gears a rolling here is a link to the song that i have had in my head for weeks now and im sure you will enjoy it.  Cage - I Never Got to Know You i really think this will be hte best cd of 2009.

with me luck, i know i fucking need it.

Mi Ami - watersports

when i heard two memebers of black eyes started a new project i was excited from the start. the newest release of the san fan trio mi ami is watersports and it standsup to all my expectations on what any ex members of black eyes group could throw out. drawn out melodies with rythemic drums and the classic black eyes squeelish vocals over it all. amazing, simply amazing.

mi ami - watersports

the number 12 looks like you - put on your rosy red glasses

this is a throwback classic, one of those bands that you loved so hard then every cd they came out with after this one just got worse and worse and their most recent sounds nothing like this and really makes me wanan die a little bit inside. number 12 looks like you is one of those bands that had something really good going for them, they had insane guitar tech parts, really good vocalist duo, and and overall good sound but nothing good lasts forever i suppose. this is their first full length release and their best to date. its all downhill from here so enjoy this one.

wolverines - split cd with the sibling project

wolverines are a two man drum and guitar duo playing from the heart screamo, while the drums and guitar are fast and relentless there is very little distrotion used is any of their songs. both the drummer and guitar player do vocals and rip it up while doing so. i first heard about these guys way back when i was in a band that was going to go on a tour (never happened) but they were really nice dudes and sent me a copy of their split to check out. while i am not a big fan of the sibling project (brother, sister pop duo) i fucking loved the wolverines side. the split includes all three of their old demo songs re-recorded and two new ones. i enjoy this cd alot.

lifelover - konkurs

well here is something a little different than my normal posts, lifelover is a swedish black metal band that plays some of the most depressing music i have ever heard. i first listened to them while hanging out with a few friends and now i cant seem to get enough. this is their newest album to date and has some amazing songs on it. if you like weird guitar intros, sweet piano leads, and super gnarly vocals then this band is for you. the piano lead in the second song blows my mind everytime. (this one was on rapidshare cuz it was over 100 megs, sorry!)

daughters - live at cbgb

while i am not a big fan of their newer releases daughters used to be one of my favorites. this is their live show during the canada songs tour. it has most of the songs off that album aswell as their self-titled 7inch. i still think ill always be a bigger fan of 'as the sun sets' their previous band but this is a pretty gnarly live set to say the least. enjoy!

the saddest landscape - i dont want to miss you anymore

the saddest landscape is getting back together to do some reunion shows (amazing!!) and they have released a new 7 inch with an all new song on it and a cover song by modern life is war. i love this band very much, i think you should too. (sorry no cover art just a photo of the actual records online)

the saddest landscape - i dont want to miss you anymore

Suis La Lune - Heir

the boys from sweden do it again this time with their ten inch entitled Heir.  I first heard of these guys from a good friend one summer night right when 'pull the heart strings' first came out and i must say i was blown away by their overall sound and ability to transfer their emotions to their music. these are four songs that are a must for any emo-violence or euro-skramz fan.

gravedigga - niggamortis

i was sitting with a friend and he asked me if i enjoyed the wutang clan, i replied ofcourse and he told me that gravediggaz make wutang clan look like a bunch of bitches. i was skeptical to say the least but i soon found gravediggaz to be one of my favorite hiphop crews of all time.

good luck - into lake griffy

im usually not one for reposts or forwards but my good friend James wrote about this cd in his music blog and apon his recomendation and the small fact that the group included folk singer/guitar player matty pop chart i downloaded it and was fucking blow away by 13 happy pozi style punk rock songs. (talk about a run on sentence) but regardless i love this cd and its been in my car for the last few days on repeat. also if you havent yet check out james blog here! <3!

ampere - all our tomorrows end today

ampere is one of the most intense live bands i have ever seen, the two times i saw them the highlight of the show for me was when they played "woodlawn" which continues to be my favorite song by them. ampere is a super group with ex members of a bunch of bands (the guitar player was in orchid!) so from the get go they have had a pretty big following and many releases and splits, this is their first EP and is gnarly as fuck. enjoy!

roboteer - collections

roboteer was from tally florida and consisted of ex members of panda and this tragic hero. these are some of the nicest dudes i have ever met and honestly have played some of the most amazing shows i have ever been witness to. their last show i saw was at the jiyuna reunion show a few years back, they went on before jiyuna and closed with their song "hooverville" off their split with merkit, my god the room blewup with emotion and yelling, "its so worthless," i dont think anything could top that except jiyuna's "saltwater" chorus. this is their demo, live set, and unreleased song as posted by dav via his livejournal, thanks dav! enjoy everyone.

thee oh sees - sucks blood

ive said this many times but ill say it again, john dwyer is a god among men. this is a post for a friend who wanted this cd and coudlnt find it anywhere, so enjoy another later release from the san fancisco crew that i enjoy so fucking much.

thee oh sees - sucks blood

thursday - common existence

this is the new thursday album that comes out in february, it has some of the songs from the envy split on it that i think are some of their best songs since full collapse. im not a huge thursday fan but i will say that there is some good songs in here. enjoy this one early!

coconut records - davy

jason schwartzman has done it again, while he continues to be one of my favorite actos in such golden films as rushmore and i heart huckabees, his singing career has always been something i have enjoyed. his previous album has some great tracks on it and im hoping this one will too. i just got this myself so if it sucks, i am sorry. but common, he was max fischer, max fucking fischer.

paul baribeau - selftitled

Paul Baribeau is a solo folk artist who rips it up like no other. his simple lyrics and driving guitar really capture his emotions and really makes you understand what he is trying to express. his songs range from love songs, to his ode to his favorite local band growing up, to the struggles of life. i met this fine gentleman two times and both times he was so kind and hugged me with his grizzly beard and a smile on his face. one of my favorite songs of all time is "never get to know" which talks about the struggles of caring for people who you love and being hurt by them but doing your best to never let them down, its powerful and brings tears to my eyes. this shit owns.

bus driver - fear of a black tangent

bus driver is one of the most insane current voices in hiphop today in my opinion. he raps as fast as dose one but with the street smarts and hooks of aesop rock. his flow is sick and his lyrics are amazing and true. lots of good memories driving around listening to this cd, puts nothing but a smile on my face and a sway in my step.

i have dreams - demo

a group of friends lost someone very important to them and to help deal with the loss process they started a band in dedication of him, the end result being the florida based emo violence project i have dreams. five highly emotional songs about loss and having someone change their lives for the better. this band makes me so happy, i can only hope that when i die something as amazing could happen for me, then again ill never know.

kids like us - outta control

while their lyrics might not be the best, and their songs kinda silly. kids like us is just one of those bands that you can turn up all the way in your speakers and yell along to with all your friends and enjoy. best line ever "tell your friends, klu asshole attack", that never gets old.
