Raein - 2008 LP

raein shares drummers with the italy legends la quiete and rock just as hard. this is their newest release that came out in 2008. they have broken up and gotten back together 3 times now, the last reunion for an anti mtv show but then they realized how much they loved playing music together and decided to stay together, this lp is a result of that. raein lyrics are across my chest, this band means alot to me. i hope you enjoy this.

pg.99 - document 8

if you know anything about screamo you know the name pg.99, if not, get fucking ready. one of the most insane bands in their time who threw a fucking brick through the window of what was thought to be acceptable and normal. over a span of 12 releases, most of which are splits with amazing bands like city of caterpillar, majority rule, and circle takes the square, pagenintynine made a name for themselves and made what i feel real music should be like, from the heart and with everything you have. many looked at them as fools when they started doing theme house shows where if you wear a costume you get in for free or even had two drummers for a tour, but they thought "who cares" it wasnt about impressing anyone or fitting into any sort of standard, pg.99 was on a level all its own and i fucking love them for it. this is document 8, my favorite release by them and my most current and new favorite records i own (thankyou nevin at ifb!), every song fucking owns so hard. everytime i heard "In Love With An Apparition" i just want to clap along. trust me, you'll see.

pg.99 - document 8

my favorite movie soundtracks

i know this isnt my typical post but dont worry there is alot more to come.

28 days later (almost all godspeed you black emperor)

friday night lights (hate this movie but its all explosions in the sky)

juno (hate the scene sensation all you want i still love kimya)

the royal tenebaums (all time favorite movie, killer songs)

the life aquatic (another wes anderson favorite)

wristcutters (a movie i just cant stop watching as of late)

all i can say is the only thing i almost love as much as music is movies, wes anderson is my all time favorite director but there is alot of good shit, get it, listen, enjoy. more jams soon.

sorry for being a lame bitch

life has been a bit rought so ive had to put alot of things on the back burner per-say. but on a positive note thee oh sees has been featured in a short film that has some songs and some live footage of them playing, i enjoyed it.

Matt & Kim - selftitled

I saw this band at fest last year while waiting for "this bike is a pipe bomb" to follow them but i am glad i waited. The boyfriend/girlfriend duo consists of Matt on keys and vocals and Kim on drums with happy and upbeat tunes that always seem to put a smile on my face.

Coachwhips - Hands on the Controls

I've said it before, anything with John Dwyer i pretty much love. Coachwhips is a 3 peice noise/punk group from San Francisco with Dwyer on guitar/vocals. This band just puts a smile on my face, nothing like inaudible lyrics and repetitive noise rock to cheer up your day. The songs "the ride" and "wite lies" are my favorite for sure.

Andros Rex - demo '06

Andros Rex is tampa's improv noise duo. they fucking rip shit up, this is their first demo.

Boredoms - 77 Boadrum (retail 2008)

I know this is early but as soon as i heard this i had to share it. If you know anything about noise you know about Boredoms (or V∞redoms). Yamantaka Eye is what you could call their frontman and founder. After years playing with Hanatarash, one of the most insane bands ever. Eye would offen throw sheets of glass on stage with no regard for the crowd or his own safty, at one show he strapped a circular saw to his back (cutting his leg) and later drove a fork lift through the back of the stage nearly destroying the building. (check out some photos from it!) After a few years Hanatarash was banned from most venus in Japan and Eye would decide to forum a new band in the dust of what was Hanatarash, the Boredoms. On July 7, 2007, Boredoms performed a concert entitled 77 Boadrum in Brooklyn Bridge Park, New York City with 77 drummers playing one song lasting 77 minutes on 7/7/07. If that isnt bad ass enough they did it the next year on 8/8/08 with 88 drummers! I have heard a few different bootleg recordings from th 77 boadrums show but nothing compares to this retail release. its alot to take in at once but once you begin to understand what Boredoms is about you can respect it for what it is, a masterpeice. I just hope i can make it to 9/9/09!

Allegory of the Cave - Discography

Allegory of the Cave is a screamo duo from Orlando Florida, and two of the nicest friends i have. Tanner plays drums with a smile on his face their entire set and rips it like no other and Rumie plays guitar like a bat out of hell and still manages to put his heart into every scream and guitar note. I played a show with these fine gentlmen after they transitioned their style and band name to Cheer Up! but they did play a few old songs for me and my friends, it was perfect in everyway. These guys have heart like no other and all their songs show it. Their discography includes their self titled demo, their split 7 inch, and their track off emo apocolypse comp which is actually where i got the name of this blog. I love these dudes and i love their music.

Consular - Don't Cross The Swine

To what seems a life time ago me and my girlfriend and best friends at the time loaded into a van and drove across the state for what we expected to be a nearly perfect show, Tunes for Bears was doing a reunion show in Miami and there was no fucking way we were going to miss it. Piled in we crossed the state in what seemed like a blur of chaos and laughter. Pulling into a quiet slightly run down neighborhood we werent sure if we were at the right place, but soon we would be having the times of our lives. After a few bands i didnt really care too much for a band set up and began to play some of the heavest music i had ever heard (this shit made flowers in the attic look calm if that says anything) i was blow away and loving every song. Thats the first time i heard Consular and goddamn was i glad to, heavy ass guitar mixed with gut renching vocals and sickk drum parts, i was fucking sold for the first breakdown to the last yelp. Even though this was the first show that had the Cowboys Became Folk Heros disography was being released i still had to have everything with the name Consular written on it and i was not dissapointed. This is their first cd release and full length lp, fucking rip this shit up and play it as loud as you can. anytime i am having a bad day and i just dont know what the fuck to do with myself i put this in and... fuck i feel so much better, pumped and ready to destroy something, but better. (the art work is from the LP not the cd, sorry i couldnt find a photo of size)

Circle Takes the Square - s/t Demo

Early in my life (before rising tide records changed everything) i used to listen to bad music. one of the first bands that changed that was the blood brothers and shortly after that jiyuna and the a4 and the rest of the local amazing music scene my town had. but regardless of that one of the first cds i ever got after first getting into screamo was Circle Takes the Square - s/t demo. While the quality of the tracks is not as good as their full length lp "as the roots undo" i still in many ways enjoy their first release alot more. its got more of a raw feel to it, their voices crack, their levels are off, from one track to the next but in that imperfection there is a beauty. I cant begin to imagine the amount of times i would go from listening to a quiet mixed song and have my speakers to the max then the next track be at full blast and nearly blow my ears out. So many good times listening to this demo, too many good times to even begin to explain. If that doesnt sell it, yes they were amazing live at fest last year. Circle Takes the Square is chaos, beauty, and emotion pure and driven.

On the Might of Princes - Where You Are and Where You Want to Be

On the Might of Princes owns it. There is nothing more i can say about that. I missed both reunion shows (add to the list of bands i missed out on: kodan armanda, pg.99, and iwouldsetmyselfonfireforyou) but i still do greatly enjoy them. This albulm has the song "for meg" which might be one of the best songs ever written in my opinion. Jam this shit!

BarkBarkBark - Worst Dotted Line

The solo project turned full band turned dating duo turned solo project (again) BarkBarkBark is one of those bands ive been on and off in love with for years. I first heard about this band from a link on my friends bands page (pre-myspace OHMYGEE) and greatly enjoyed their light pop-ie electronic sound and over all feel. This is their first official release and something ive enjoyed for many years. Oh and yes they are named after the dog that jumps over the hill in duckhunt, clever i know. (sorry this albulm art looks like shit i could only find a small jpg saved from like 3 years ago)

I Wrote Haikus About Cannibalism In Your Yearbook - 8 Songs

I Wrote Haikus About Cannibalism In Your Yearbook  is one of the most emotional bands i have ever heard, they blow my mind away everytime i hear them. this is their first release and is fucking amazing in every way. One of my favorite musical releases of all time.

Thee Oh Sees - The Master's Bedroom is Worth Spending a Night In

Thee Oh Sees or the ohsees or previously known as OCS (Orange County Sound, Orinoka Crash Suite) is John Dwyers solo project turned full band over the course of 8 releases. While Dwyer is more commonly known as a member of the noise duo pink&brown, thee oh sees shows a more laid back relaxed side of him. I think of John Dwyer is a god among men and love just about everything he has done but this remains one of my favorites to date.

Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles (2008)

well ive been sick for a few days so im sorry for the lack of updates, ill make up for it by posting a few cds today. also ive been messaging back and forth with the label who releases crystal castles full length, pretty much the release thrash/thrash/thrash is not an offical release but is infact a fan made demo that the guys at CC do not like. i am sorry for that but i was told to repost it with their new self titled release that came out this year. please enjoy!

Crystal Castles - thrash/thrash/thrash

Ethan Kath does all the music, Alice Glass does all the vocals. This is one of their early releases but is still quite good. The Canada based duo is playing in Miami in March, should be a good fucking time. Electronica with a dash of screaming and a sprinkled amont of vocoder with just enough dance beats to make it good, Crystal Castles is sweet.

Aesop Rock - Labor Days

When i was in middle school all i knew about rap was that is mostly consisted of sex, drugs, and money. If it wasnt about a "thong song" or "country grammer" i wasnt really aware of it. To say i was sheltered from the true world of hiphop would have been an understatement. Then after meeting a friend of a friend i was handed a cd that would forever change my views on rap music and hiphop for the rest of my life. Ian Matthias Bavitz aka Aesop Rock was the first rapper i had ever heard that rymed about real life, the struggles of growing up, and even told stories and taught positive lessons and ontop of that he was a white rapper and not named after a chocolate candy (insert lame eminiem pun here). I couldnt believe how much i enjoyed this cd and found myself looking into other undergroup hiphop rappers like Dose One, Bus Driver and Bleubird. For the first time in my life hiphop was not associated with MTV or making money and living large, it was something i could understand and even relate to in some sences. One of the most fun i had last summer was seeing Aesop Rock in Miami on the "None Shall Pass" tour, even now that he has made a name for himself in the world of hiphop and has even had his own spots on MTV he was still a down to earth guy who was just happy to be there and having a good time. Aesop Rock is a fucking amazing rapper and doesnt let his ability and success cloud his judgement (cough cough kanye west cough cough), hell the guy still drives a ford focus! Listen to this cd and fucking love it, i know i still do to this day.

Mineral -The Power Of Failing

When your girlfriend left you, you parents think you are shit, and you still cant find a job after looking for weeks and your just not sure what the fuck you can do next. Put in Mineral, no joke. 90s emo at its finest and it sure makes me feel a fuck of alot better.

The Random Notes of Decay - Demo

Three dudes from Tallahassee, Florida playing some sick tunes. Also from what i hear will soon be doing a split with local Fort Myers legends Lets Go Exploring (ex Anchorite Four, Drawing Maps, and then some) and in the words a fine man once told me "Random Notes of Decay is the fucking best, ever," well you cant argue with that.

Silver Jews - American Water

David Berman is what i like to think of as a genius, he is a founding memeber of Silver Jews. The bands start is pretty amazing in itself, 3 friends started a band in college and moved to New York after graduation and gave up on the band for their careers as a bus driver and art museum security guards. A few years later they decided to start things back up with the name Silver Jews. The first time i heard about this band was from someone i highly respect musically and was completely blow away by their sound and overall feel. Most of my high school digital design class was spent with my teacher talking about how great this band was, this is one of their best releases.
