Why - Almost Live From Eli's Live Room

Part two of the Why live CDs, this one is from their most recent tour. I saw them in Orlando with a few friends and it was one of the best nights of my entire life. This cd includes 23 tracks and you can hardly tell its live, fucking badass. (although no album art)

Boy Problems - Tour Demo

Boy Problems is ex make me and also includes members of street smart cyclist, storm the bastille and (according to lastfm) about ten others i was unaware of. make me was a big influence on me when i was first getting into playing music and i have many fond memories listening to them, when they broke up i was a bit upset but when i heard about boy problems i was overjoyed. Their tour demo release is glorious, but sadly has no cover art, ahwel.

Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra-La-La Band - Horses in the Sky

A Silver Mount Zion started off a side project of Efrim Menuck (guitar player in Godspeed You! Black Emperor), his plan was to learn how to score music and get in better touch with the rest of the musicians he was working with by understanding music theory. This idea was soon abandoned as Menuck realized that he preferred not knowing precisely what he was doing when writing, opting to "fumble" instead. I have always been a big fan of anything godspeed related (thus my hamster being named godspeed) but A Silver Mount Zion has always been my favorite of the rediclious amounts of side projects and music groups spawing from it. 'Horses in the Sky" is a nearly perfect album, and a must have for any gy!be fan.

loma prieta - our lp is your ep

Loma Prieta is a super group ex members of Archeopteryx and Sailboats (the short lived but highly respected screamo band whos demo is pure gold).  When i first heard about this band i could hardly believe it. This is their first release and the most played record i own.

i would set myself on fire for you - self titled

Sitting a bit intoxicated in my best friend at the times house browsing random bands on the long dead hxcmp3.com we found a band that made me stop and say, "holy shit shoobsie this is good" the band being I Would Set Myself On Fire For You. While their name is long, their sound is near perfection in my eyes. A good blend of everything that makes their sound so awesome, violent vocals/guitars matched with beautiful violin parts and all wrapped up in amazing lyrics that have made me rethink the way i think about music. The first night we found this band we heard a live version of "the first word that comes to mind" and I just remember how perfect it felt at that time in my life. This band is one of my all time favorites and a definite must that i feel anyone could relate to.

jiyuna - this desolate veil

The first real show I ever went to was at Rising Tide Records, a brief but amazing venue/record store run by some wonderful people. I was 16 and the first band was Jiyuna, I had met some of the guys previously at the shop before hand but I had no idea what I was about to see. They blew my fucking mind and changed my opinions on music forever. ‘This Desolate Veil’ is in my opinion their greatest masterpiece and possibly one of the best musical releases to come out of southwest florida to date.
